Michelle’s powerful voice and commanding stage presence have enchanted audiences, particularly through her heartfelt renditions of the National Anthem and "God Bless America," which she has performed at many major sporting events across the NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL, and MLB. On May 22, 2025, Michelle was honored with a citation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Veteran Services for her outstanding rendition of the National Anthem at the Massachusetts Inaugural Military Appreciation Day Ceremony held at the Massachusetts State House.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
In 2011, Michelle made her way to the audition for the first-ever Boston Red Sox "Sing Your Way to Fenway" National Anthem competition.
Upon the suggestion of her previous manager, Michelle entered the competition, unaware that it would set her on a remarkable path. Out of 121 contestants, she emerged as the first winner of the competition and has since performed regularly for the Boston Red Sox, winning the hearts of fans and players alike, becoming a cherished performer and a friend to the team.
In addition to her numerous performances on Opening Day, she has been involved in special pregame ceremonies, acted as the emcee for the grand opening of MGM at Fenway, and has performed at several Boston Red Sox playoff games, including the 2018 World Series.
On September 29th, 2014 Michelle performed at the Boston Red Sox pre ceremony for New York Yankee’s legendary Shortstop, Derek Jeter. She performed Aretha Franklin’s “Respect “and the National Anthem. On July 28, 2015, Michelle had the honor of singing the National Anthem during the jersey retirement ceremony for Boston Red Sox icon Pedro Martinez. In October 2016, she was invited once more for another eagerly awaited pre-game event at Fenway Park, this time at the request of David "Big Papi" Ortiz for his retirement ceremony. All of these pre-game events were broadcast on NESN, New England’s leading sports network, reaching an audience of over 1 million viewers.

In March 2022, Michelle Brooks-Thompson delivered a breathtaking rendition of the national anthem at the Charlotte FC soccer inaugural game, an event that became legendary when the sound system unexpectedly went out. Undeterred, she continued to sing, and in a remarkable display of unity, 75,000 fans at Bank of America Stadium joined in, creating an electrifying atmosphere as they collectively sang alongside her. This moment not only went viral but also marked the beginning of a cherished tradition at Charlotte FC, where fans and the national anthem singer perform together. In 2023, Michelle was invited back for opening day to reprise her role in this new tradition, celebrating the powerful bond formed between her, the team, and their dedicated supporters. Her passionate performances symbolize the spirit of camaraderie and pride that define Charlotte FC and its community.
A VOICE FOR ALL TEAMS AND EVENTS!
Michelle's captivating performances have not only resonated with fans at Fenway Park but have also left an indelible mark on the Boston sports community. With each rendition of the National Anthem, she brings a unique blend of passion and patriotism, transforming each game into a memorable experience. Her powerful voice has been celebrated at numerous high-profile events, captivating audiences and creating a sense of unity among fans. Whether it's a regular season game or a playoff showdown, Michelle's ability to connect with the crowd adds an electric atmosphere that enhances the thrill of the game.
She takes great pride in being the National Anthem singer for the Boston Fleet, part of the National Professional Women’s Hockey League, and has performed during all three of their inaugural seasons. In addition, she has served as the national anthem singer for the Boston Celtics since 2014 and the Cleveland Cavaliers since 2023. Throughout her professional career, she has performed over 75 times at professional sporting games and prestigious events including the:

Michelle’s rendition of the National Anthem and God Bless America is highly respected and is continually requested by sports teams and many venues. During the 2020 global pandemic, Michelle graced the Boston Red Sox team and fans on Opening Day with the National Anthem and God Bless America! Additionally, Michelle has been requested to sing other national anthems including La Borinquena (Puerto Rican) and O’ Canada (Canadian).
